Banner Mountain/Lava Cap
Banner Mountain is a desirable, hilly area to own real estate just minutes from downtown Nevada City. Banner Mountain climbs from Nevada City (at an elevation of about 2,500 ft), to its summit which is found at 3,902 feet. This makes for slightly cooler summer temperatures averaging 85 degrees, and cozy, snowy winters with temperatures in the range of 36-55 degrees. Banner Mountain is the headwater source of three main creeks: Wolf Creek, Little Deer Creek, and Little Clipper Creek and there are many trails for walking or mountain biking in the area, such as the enchanting Cascade Canal Trail. As a result of being above the snowline, some family homes near the top of Banner resemble mountain chalets surrounded by plenty of pine and fir. Real estate on the sloping hills of the Banner Mountain area contribute to a community of folks who love clean mountain air, peace and quiet, and being surrounded by the beauty of nature.
